Ukraine completed the screening under the negotiation section “Agriculture and development of rural areas”
The screening meetings of the Ukrainian delegation with the European Commission on negotiating chapter 11 “Agriculture and development of rural areas” have ended in Brussels. About this reports the press service of the Ministry of Economy.
The Ukrainian side was headed by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Taras Kachka. The delegation also included Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture Denys Bashlyk.
During the three-day work, Ukraine presented 28 thematic blocks, which covered the state of reforms in agriculture, digitalization, state support, market regulation and development of the agricultural sector. This was to demonstrate Ukraine’s readiness for integration into the EU’s common agricultural policy.
The level of harmonization of Ukrainian legislation with EU legal acts in the areas of horizontal issues (financial and administrative structures), agricultural markets, policy in the field of quality, organic production and promotion of agricultural products was presented separately. During the discussions, the Ukrainian side provided detailed explanations regarding the work carried out. The European Commission positively evaluated the presented materials. As Denys Bashlyk noted, this shows the serious interest of EU partners and at the same time emphasizes the scale of work that is still needed for full integration.
“These discussions showed two key things: we have already made significant progress in bringing agricultural policy closer to EU standards, but there is still a lot of work ahead. The accession process requires joint efforts and close coordination. “Ukraine is ready to go this way,” Denys Bashlyk concluded.
