Ukraine does not plan to forcibly return men of conscription age from abroad: Deputy Prime Minister Stefanyshyn

Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Olha Stefanishyna assured that Ukraine will not forcibly return men of military age from abroad. However, they will need to update their military registration information.

There will be no restrictions or forced return of Ukrainian citizens of any gender or age to a warring country“, – stated Stefanishyna in an interview with DW.

She emphasized that collecting data on the military registration of men abroad is necessary for a better understanding of the country’s mobilization potential.

“Ukraine has adopted a law on mobilization and we have to understand to what extent we can replace the guys at the front. We are talking about the potential of mobilization – accounting and information. And this is the primary goal of our decision“, the Deputy Prime Minister explained.

Stefanyshyn also informed that in May, the European Commissioner for Internal Affairs and Migration Ylva Johansson will visit Ukraine to discuss the future status of Ukrainian refugees in the EU with the Ukrainian authorities.
