Ukraine expects the first F-16 already this summer
This summer, Ukraine will receive its first F-16 fighter jets from Denmark, but Kyiv must prepare the infrastructure and provide capabilities for the maintenance of the fighters.
About this reported Minister of Defense of the Netherlands Kaisa Ollongren.
The first planes will be of Danish origin, and later Ukraine will also receive Dutch F-16s. However, according to Ollongren, in order to receive and maintain these fighters, Ukraine must first prepare the appropriate infrastructure.
“From this summer we are ready to provide real capabilities, starting with the Danish F-16s and then the Dutch F-16s“, Ollongren said.
Currently, Ukrainian pilots and engineers are undergoing appropriate training for the F-16. According to the spokesman of the Air Force of Ukraine, Ilya Yevlash, this process continues continuously.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia has already reacted to this news, saying that they will perceive the appearance of F-16s in Ukraine, regardless of modification, as carriers of nuclear weapons. The department also added that they consider this move by the USA and NATO as a “targeted provocation”.
