One of the categories of mobilized people is planned to be released from service

The Verkhovna Rada will consider a new bill proposing changes to the current legislation on military service. Roman Kostenko, Secretary of the Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, told, that this draft law is aimed at the release from military service of conscripts aged 18 to 25 who have already completed their military service or graduated from the military department.

According to him, the draft law prohibits the conscription of such conscripts. A rule is also being considered that would give them the right to be released from the front if they were mobilized during this period. He added that 19-year-old boys will not be mobilized to the Armed Forces of Ukraine if they do not want it.

Kostenko explained that starting in 2022, certificates of limited suitability for military service will not be issued during peacetime. Previously, such certificates were issued that prohibited the enlistment of conscripts aged 18 to 25 who did not serve in the army, did not have a military ticket or a military department. However, these people are now considered conscripts.

He also noted that, according to the current legislation, those who received a military ID at the age of 20 with a note of limited fitness in wartime, but unfitness in peacetime, became conscripts. Nothing has changed since the adoption of the law, and such categories continued to be called up to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Thus, the new draft law aims to settle these issues in order to avoid conscription and provide the possibility of exemption from service for those who have already served or graduated from the military department.
