Ukraine has attracted €1.3 billion in international aid for winter gas purchases

Ukraine received about 1.3 billion euros in international support for urgent gas purchases for the winter period. This was reported by the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.

“Regarding additional volumes of gas, for emergency winter purchases, Ukraine has already managed to attract almost 1.3 billion euros in international aid, of which 127 million euros were provided by Norway,”, the Ministry of Energy said in a statement.

According to the department, Deputy Minister of Energy Mykola Kolisnyk held a working meeting with Counselor-Envoy of the Norwegian Embassy in Ukraine Kristin Enstad. During the conversation, the urgent needs of Ukraine’s energy sector, caused by Russian attacks, and ways to expand support from Norwegian partners were discussed. The issue was the purchase of gas, the supply of equipment for the restoration of gas infrastructure, and the modernization of electricity generation and distribution systems.

It is known that Norway’s contribution to the Energy Support Fund for Ukraine exceeds 77 million euros. These funds are directed to distributed generation projects in the field and the purchase of critical gas pumping equipment.
