The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, expressed confidence that the end of the war with Russia is not far off and will happen much faster than expected. IN interview to the American TV channel ABC News, he emphasized the need to strengthen the support of the Ukrainian army from international partners.
“The victory plan is to strengthen Ukraine. That’s why we ask our friends, our allies to strengthen us. This is very important”, — said Zelensky.
“I think we are closer to peace than we think. We are closer to the end of war”, he continued.
These statements were made during Zelenskyi’s visit to New York, where he is participating in the session of the UN General Assembly. The president intends to present his “Victory Plan” to US leader Joe Biden and other high-ranking US officials.
In addition, Zelensky called on the United States and Great Britain to lift restrictions on Ukraine’s use of long-range missiles to strike targets on Russian territory. According to him, only with a “strong position” will Ukraine be able to force Vladimir Putin to stop aggression.
Volodymyr Zelensky was in New York with First Lady Olena Zelenska, and he plans to visit Washington at the end of the week. Meetings with US President Joe Biden, as well as presidential candidates Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are scheduled there.
