A presentation of Japanese technologies for remote control of construction equipment took place in Ukraine

A presentation of Japanese technologies for remote control of heavy construction equipment was held in Ukraine. Thanks to these innovations, operators from Kyiv were able to control excavators located at a distance of 25 km near Boryspil and even more than 8 thousand km – in the city of Kobe, Japan. This is reports the press service of the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development.

Remote control technologies make it possible to carry out work in difficult and dangerous conditions, minimizing risks for workers. Operators can work from anywhere where the cabin is equipped, which is especially relevant for the regions most affected by the destruction: during rubble clearance, demining, restoration of roads, bridges, housing and social infrastructure. In addition, these solutions help to overcome the shortage of specialists, because one operator is able to control several machines at the same time.

It is also important that remote technologies create additional jobs for veterans, people with disabilities and mothers on maternity leave. For example, within the framework of the pilot project, 54 women were trained as operators of heavy equipment, and one of them was already driving an excavator during the presentation.

The presentation was part of the work of the Japanese-Ukrainian platform on infrastructure technologies JUPITeR, created by the Ministry of Development and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan. Its goal is to involve Japanese companies in the reconstruction of Ukraine and the introduction of advanced technologies.

The JUPITeR platform builds on the cooperation initiated by the Memorandum of Understanding in February 2024. Currently, 190 Japanese public-private companies that are interested in partnership with Ukraine have joined it.
