Ukraine has introduced the DELTA digital combat system at all levels of the Defense Forces
Minister of Defense of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal signed order on the implementation of the DELTA digital management system at all levels of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
This combat digital ecosystem provides real-time monitoring of the situation on the battlefield, helps to effectively plan military operations and organize data exchange between units, brigades and groups. If necessary, it is also possible to exchange information with allies.
DELTA successfully passed an information security check and demonstrated effectiveness in combat conditions — in particular, during the defense of Kyiv in 2022, in operations against the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation, during the liberation of Zmiiny Island and the deoccupation of Kherson.
The system can be used on laptops, tablets and mobile devices and has already become a tool for commanders at all levels. With its help, more than 2,000 targets are hit every day, and in total, more than half a million confirmed hits are carried out per year. DELTA also integrates an artificial intelligence platform that recognizes enemy equipment in real time.
Developers continue to create new modules to expand the functionality of the system. At present, a dozen of the NATO countries have officially appealed to Ukraine with a request to export the DELTA system. Although the name of the country has not yet been disclosed, it is known that it is an active supplier of arms to Ukraine. The export mechanism is being worked on and a public announcement will be made after the conclusion of the interstate agreement.
Elizaveta Boyko, lieutenant colonel of the Innovation Center of the Ministry of Defense, who also heads one of the areas of DELTA development, noted that partner countries had similar systems in the 1990s. At the same time, their solutions are already outdated, and updating such systems requires significant resources – both financial and human.
