President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced his support for the Christmas truce initiative proposed by German politician Friedrich Merz and supported by the United States of America. The head of state announced this in a comment to journalists, noting that this proposal was officially announced and discussed during the negotiations.
According to the president, Ukraine is ready to join any ceasefire formats, including energy ones.
“As the president, I definitely support this idea. We will support any ceasefire, ” emphasized Volodymyr Zelensky.
He also emphasized that all steps of Ukraine towards ending the war are coordinated with partners in Europe and the United States. At the same time, the president noted that the further development of events largely depends on the presence of political will on the part of Russia.
The head of state paid special attention to the need to prepare relevant documents, on which the practical implementation of the ceasefire initiative will largely depend.
At the same time, as previously stated by the spokesman for Russian dictator Putin, Dmitry Peskov, the topic of a possible establishment of a Christmas truce on the front, according to him, as of two weeks ago, was not discussed at all.
