Ukraine offers help to six European countries to fight floods

Ukraine offered its help to Moldova, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary and the Czech Republic to overcome the consequences of large-scale floods that covered Central Europe. About this reported Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiga.

“Ukraine stands in solidarity with its neighbors who suffer from devastating floods. At the behest of President Volodymyr Zelenskyi and with the coordination of Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, we offered Moldova, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary and the Czech Republic to send units of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine to help overcome the disaster., he wrote in Kh.

The minister also expressed his condolences to the victims of the natural disaster.

“Our thoughts are with all affected communities. We wish our neighbors to overcome this natural disaster as soon as possible.”, — wrote Sybiga.

Floods caused by heavy downpours hit the Czech Republic and Poland particularly hard. In southwestern Poland, one person became a victim of natural disasters, local residents were evacuated due to rising water levels. In the Czech Republic, the situation is no less critical: hundreds of thousands of people are left without electricity, and high water destroys houses.

Czech Minister of Foreign Affairs Jan Lipavsky confirmed that Ukraine offered its help in eliminating the consequences of devastating floods. In addition, a number of train services were temporarily canceled in the Czech Republic due to infrastructure damage.

In Poland, in the town of Strone-Szłonski in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, a dam breach on the Moravka River caused the town to flood, effectively leaving it under water.

Romania also suffered significant losses: the flood took the lives of four people. In Austria, the federal state of Lower Austria was declared a disaster zone, where a firefighter died during the liquidation of the consequences.
