Ukraine offers partners to introduce special taxes on energy carriers and raw materials from the Russian Federation

Ukraine offers partner countries after the end of the war to introduce special taxes on Russian energy carriers and raw materials in order to direct these funds to the reconstruction of Ukraine, which has suffered significant destruction due to the aggression of the Russian Federation. About this reported Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal.
“The funds of the aggressor must work for Ukraine. We insist on the complete confiscation of Russian immobilized assets. At the same time, we see that the needs for reconstruction already exceed the volume of the frozen assets of the Russian Federation. I suggested that the partner countries introduce special taxes on Russian energy sources and Russian raw materials after the war.” Shmyhal noted.
According to him, such an initiative will achieve three important goals: the aggressor will be forced to pay for the destruction caused, Ukraine will receive additional resources for recovery, and a precedent will be created that will serve as protection for potential victims of aggression in the future.
Separately, Shmyhal emphasized that one of the key areas of recovery for the government is housing, and the second priority is energy:
“In one year, the number of damaged or destroyed assets increased by 93%. These are colossal losses that we are replacing in real time.”
