Ukraine received additional batch of Storm Shadow missiles from the UK: Bloomberg
The British government has transferred an additional batch of Storm Shadow missiles to Ukraine to ensure that it can continue to strike military targets in Russia during the winter. This was reported by Bloomberg.
The exact number of munitions transferred is not disclosed at this time, but the purpose of the supply is to guarantee Ukraine a sufficient supply of high-precision weapons at a time when London expects increased Russian attacks on civilian infrastructure.
Amid the expansion of sanctions against Russia, the United Kingdom, together with its allies, seeks to show that support for Ukraine will remain unchanged, and that the West’s economic and military resources far exceed Moscow’s capabilities to wage a protracted war. This step was also a response to the refusal of US President Donald Trump to transfer Tomahawk missiles to Kyiv.
Storm Shadow is a high-precision air-launched missile with a range of over 250 kilometers, capable of flying at low altitudes and equipped with a combined MBDA navigation system. London traditionally does not disclose the volume of supplies of this type of weapon and refrains from public statements about their number and transfer schedule.
Recall that on November 20, 2024, Ukraine first launched strikes on Russian territory with long-range Storm Shadow missiles, targeting enemy military facilities. The use of these missiles was approved as a response to Moscow’s involvement of North Korean soldiers in the war against Ukraine.
