Ukraine stops Russian oil platform in Caspian Sea for the first time
Ukrainian special services have for the first time managed to disable a Russian oil platform in the Caspian Sea using long-range drones. This was reported by the media, citing their own sources in the SBU.
The attack was carried out by the SBU’s “Alpha” Special Operations Center on the Filanovsky platform, which belongs to the company “Lukoil-Nizhnevolzhskneft”. At least four precise hits on the offshore structure are known, which caused the cessation of oil and gas production from more than twenty wells served by the platform.
According to sources, this is the first case of damage to Russian oil infrastructure in the Caspian Sea.
“Cotton in the Caspian Sea is another reminder to the Russian Federation that all its enterprises working for war are legitimate targets. Wherever they are, ”, – an informed source in the SBU noted.
The Filanovsky field is one of the largest in the Russian part of the Caspian Sea: its reserves amount to 129 million tons of oil and 30 billion cubic meters of gas. Previously, energy resources were exported through the Caspian Pipeline Consortium.
