Ukraine tightens requirements for gambling business
The Ukrainian government has introduced new rules for gambling organizers, the purpose of which is to combat ludomania – gambling addiction. The new resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers establishes stricter requirements for the activities of the gambling business. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.
From now on, gambling organizers are obliged to monitor the behavior of players, and if they detect signs of pronounced addiction, the game for such a person is stopped, but the winnings are paid out. The player can also block his account on his own, after which replenishing the account and participating in the game will become impossible. In addition, participation in the game is allowed only if there are established time and expense limits, and operators must monitor that these limits are not exceeded.
Organizers must also regularly inform players in their personal accounts how much time they spend playing and what expenses have already been incurred, with the opportunity to continue or stop the game. Gambling companies are obliged to provide advice on gambling addiction and post information about the risks of gambling addiction and the principles of responsible gambling both in the halls and on their own websites. In addition, the concepts of pathological and problem gambling behavior have been defined at the regulatory level.
“New requirements – are our response to a problem that has remained outside the system’s regulation for years. Now the organizer cannot simply watch when a person loses control. He is obliged to react, terminate the player’s participation if there are signs of addiction and provide contacts of services that will help solve the problem, explained the Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, Natalia Denikeeva.
