Ukraine to receive £2.26 military loan from the UK to support the Armed Forces

The government of Great Britain announced the allocation of additional financial assistance to Ukraine in the form of a loan in the amount of 2.26 billion pounds (approximately $2.73 billion). This step is aimed at supporting Ukraine’s defense efforts in the fight against Russian aggression. About this reported on the official website of the British government.

The funds will be used to purchase key military assets such as air defense systems, artillery and other military equipment needed to defend the country. The loan is part of a large-scale program of the G7 countries, which provides $50 billion for Ukraine’s military and economic needs.

This loan is planned to be repaid at the expense of profits from frozen Russian assets that have come under sanctions. The Minister of Finance of Great Britain, Rachel Reeves, emphasized that providing aid to Ukraine is in the national interests of Great Britain, as Ukraine is fighting for common democratic values. She also emphasized that the British defense sector continues to supply important military equipment, including 650 missiles for air defense systems.

“Our support for Ukraine in their struggle for freedom from Putin’s aggression is unwavering and will continue as long as necessary.”, — noted Reeves.

This loan complements the already existing annual military aid from Great Britain in the amount of £3 billion, which is aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities in the face of Russian invasion.
