Ukraine was elected to the governing bodies of the Universal Postal Union

Ukraine was elected to the Administrative Council and the Postal Operations Council of the Universal Postal Union (UPU). The corresponding decision was made during the 28th World Postal Congress held in Dubai (UAE). This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Development of Communities and Territories.

The event was attended by a Ukrainian delegation led by Deputy Minister of Community and Territorial Development Andrii Bratus, which included representatives of the Ministry and Ukrposhta. In his speech, Andriy Bratus emphasized that the Universal Postal Union was created to organize and improve postal services in the world and develop international cooperation in this area. At the same time, he emphasized that today one of the members of the Air Force is acting in direct violation of these principles.

Separately, the deputy minister thanked the delegation of Denmark, which initiated the joint statement in support of Ukraine, as well as the 32 countries that joined it and spoke against the election of Russia and Belarus to the key bodies of the Air Force. The statement emphasizes that a state that has launched an illegal aggressive war against another member of the Union, grossly violating international law and the UN Charter, as well as a country that is an accomplice to this war, cannot hold leadership positions in any body of the Air Force.

Among the key topics of this year’s Congress, modernization of postal services, improvement of service quality, reward system in conditions of growth of e-commerce, development of inclusive services and ensuring stability of postal networks were discussed.
