Ukraine will receive $1 billion in aid from NATO countries to support air defense

Allies at the NATO summit in Washington announced on allocating to Ukraine an aid package in the amount of $1 billion to support air defense. The USA, Germany, Romania and other countries will deliver Patriot batteries to Ukraine, and the Netherlands, together with its bloc partners, will supply these batteries with the necessary components. Italy will also transfer the SAMP-T system.

These systems are supposed to protect Ukrainian cities, civilians and soldiers from missile attacks.

In addition to this, the US and its partners will transfer dozens of tactical air defense systems to Ukraine in the coming months, such as NASAMS, HAWK, IRIS T-SLM, IRIS T-SLS and Gepard. These systems will provide reliable protection against various types of aerial threats, including missiles and drones used by the enemy.

The Allies also agreed to conduct joint exercises of the Ukrainian military to improve their efficiency in managing and operating new air defense systems. This will allow for faster integration of the received equipment into the existing defense structure and provide maximum protection.

In addition, the creation of a special fund for long-term support of the development of Ukrainian air defense was announced. The fund will be aimed at the purchase of the latest technologies, modernization of existing systems and training of specialists. This step underlines NATO’s long-term commitment to support Ukraine in the face of constant threats from the aggressor.

NATO also announced the strengthening of coordination of efforts in the field of intelligence and information exchange, which will allow to respond more quickly to new challenges and threats. This includes the use of the latest technologies and methods of data analysis to provide a complete picture of the situation in real time.
