Ukrainian farmers have already sown more than half a million hectares of grain
As of March 28, 2025, Ukrainian farmers planted 551.8 thousand hectares of spring grain and leguminous crops. The sowing campaign of sugar beets and soybeans has also been started. About this informs Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
The largest area of crops is currently occupied by barley – 315.5 thousand. Ha. Spring wheat was sown on 79.8 thousand ha, peas – 102.9 thousand ha, oats — for 50.7 thousand. Ha. Sugar beets have already been sown on 17,800 hectares. ha, and soy — by 0.6 thousand. Ha.
The Ministry of Agrarian Policy also named the leading regions in terms of the volume of spring sowing. The sowing campaign is most active in the Mykolaiv region — 60.1 thousand. ha (in particular, 3 thousand ha of wheat, 32 thousand ha of barley, 24.5 thousand ha of peas and 0.6 thousand ha of oats).
58.1 thousand were sown in Ternopil region. ha (14 thousand ha of wheat, 36.8 thousand ha of barley, 3.7 thousand ha of peas and 3.6 thousand ha of oats), in Vinnytsia — 53 thousand. ha (10.4 thousand ha of wheat, 34.5 thousand ha of barley, 7 thousand ha of peas, 1.1 thousand ha of oats), in Kirovohradska — 48.8 thousand. ha (1.5 thousand ha of wheat, 29.7 thousand ha of barley, 16.5 thousand ha of peas), and in the Volyn region – 47 thousand ha (9 thousand ha of wheat, 14 thousand ha of barley, 4 thousand ha of peas and 20 thousand ha of oats).
According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, in 2025 it is planned to sow more than 5.7 million hectares of spring grain and leguminous crops — an indicator that remains at the level of last year.
The agency notes that the key difference of the new agricultural season will be the expected expansion of areas under spring wheat — by 28%, to 222.8 thousand hectares. Such a change in the structure of crops is due to the stable demand for wheat from the enterprises of the processing industry and exporters.
