As of the morning of August 17, 126 combat clashes have been recorded – the Ukrainian military is confidently restraining the offensive actions of the Russian Federation and inflicting significant losses on it, using artillery, aviation and attack drones. According to the military command, during the day, Russian troops carried out 48 airstrikes, during which 83 guided aerial bombs were dropped. In addition, the Russian Federation used 1,699 kamikaze attack drones and opened fire more than four thousand times on the positions of Ukrainian units and settlements, in particular, 4,258 shellings were recorded in various directions.
Ukrainian defenders repelled two enemy assault attacks on the North Slobozhan and Kursk sectors. At the same time, the enemy carried out 10 airstrikes, dropping 23 aerial bombs, and also shelled the territory 204 times, in particular, used rocket salvo systems 11 times.
In the Kamianka district, in the Yuzhno-Slobozhansk direction, there were two assault attempts by the Russians, which ended without results.
In the Kupyansk direction, battles took place in the districts of Kindrashyvka, Zapadny, Golubivka, and Stepova Novoselevka. There, Ukrainian soldiers repulsed ten attacks, three more skirmishes remain in the active phase.
Near Karpivka, Zelena Dolyna, Kolodyazyu, as well as in the direction of Serebryanka and Hryhorivka, the enemy tried 16 times to break through the defenses on the Limansky section. The fighting in the three districts is still going on.
In the Siversky direction, Ukrainian units repelled another attack — the occupiers tried to advance in the Hryhorivka area.
In Toretsk, there were four attempts to attack the positions of the Armed Forces in the districts of Toretsk, Diliivka, and Pleshchiivka. They were all stopped.
The hottest situation persists in the Pokrovsky direction. There, the enemy tried to storm Ukrainian positions 38 times, in particular in the areas of Poltavka, Volodymyrivka, Novy Shakhovy, Novoekonominykh, Rodynskyi, Promeny, Lysivka, Chunyshinny, Zvirovoy, Kotlyny, Udachny, Horykhovy, Muravka, and Filia. Fighting is still going on at several of these points.
Preliminary data indicate that 91 occupiers were eliminated in this direction alone, and another 48 were injured. One artillery system, seven vehicles and 18 drones were also destroyed. One more artillery system, three cars, ten field shelters and the enemy’s UAV control post were damaged.
On the Novopavlivskyi direction, the Russians tried 22 times to break through the defenses of the Ukrainian military in the areas of Novokhatsky, Vilniy Pol, Myrny, Piddubny, Shevchenko, Voskresenka, Temyrivka, Malyivka, and Olhivskyi, but to no avail.
In the direction of Orihiv, the defense forces repelled the offensive in the direction of Stepnohirsk.
In Dnieper, the enemy twice tried to break through to Ukrainian positions, but both attempts were in vain.
No significant changes in the situation were recorded in other areas of the front.
The General Staff also noted the work of the soldiers of the 426th separate battalion of unmanned systems, who inflict significant losses on the enemy with the help of drones.
We will remind you that in the North-Slobozhansk direction, Ukrainian units were able to advance for a distance of one to two and a half kilometers, while maintaining zones of dense fire control, which actually blocks the ability of Russian troops to provide their forces with logistics in an organized manner.
