The National Bank calculated the average check when paying by card in stores
In the first half of 2025, the average check when paying by card in stores in Ukraine was 342 hryvnias, and when paying on the Internet – 589 hryvnias. About this informs National Bank press office.
Over the year, these indicators increased by approximately 6-8%. The average size of the transfer “from card to card” was 1,835 hryvnias, and there is a decrease here.
“Non-cash payments of Ukrainians continue to grow. This is confirmed by the statistics of the use of payment cards issued by Ukrainian banks. In general, the number of transactions (non-cash and with the receipt of cash) in Ukraine and abroad using payment cards issued by Ukrainian banks in the first half of 2025 amounted to 4,596.2 million units, and their sum – 3,399.7 billion UAH. Of them 4,379.5 million transactions were cashless for a total amount of UAH 2,218.4 billion, which is 12.6% and 11.2% more, respectively, compared to the same period in 2024. – stated the National Bank.
The development of the payment infrastructure is also ongoing. The number of POS terminals increased by 7.9% year-to-date to 535,900, and the number of card-accepting outlets increased by 10.1% to 570,900. At the same time, the ATM network decreased by 1.2% to 15,500 devices. The total number of payment cards issued in Ukraine reached 140.2 million, which is 6% more than the beginning of the year.
At the same time, the number of active payment cards used for spending transactions every month, as well as the number of contactless cards, remained practically at the same level. In June of this year, more than half of all active payment cards – 59.8% – were contactless.
