Ukrainian stocks rise on Warsaw Stock Exchange after Trump-Putin conversation
The WIG-Ukraine index of Ukrainian shares on the Warsaw Stock Exchange (WSE) rose by 5.43% on Friday morning to 507.91 points. This happened after the agreement announced the day before on a future meeting between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin in Budapest following their telephone conversation. At the same time, the main index of the stock exchange WIG20 decreased by 1.81%, reports Forbes.
As of 12:45, the largest growth among Ukrainian companies was shown by Milkiland shares (+13.26%), while “Astarta” rose by 3.45%, IMC – by 5.91%, “Agroton” – by 4.65%, KSG-Agro – by 2.68%.
The shares of the agricultural holding “Kernel”, the largest Ukrainian oil producer, which are not included in the index due to a small free-float, increased by 2.47%. Coal Energy shares, despite the mines being shut down due to the war, added 17.02%.
On the London Stock Exchange (LSE), where retail investors have less influence, shares of the mining company Ferrexpo jumped by 10.08%. At the same time, the shares of MHP, the largest chicken producer in Ukraine, fell by 3.06% after a short rise at the beginning of trading.
As for Ukrainian Eurobonds, after several days of their value increasing in anticipation of Trump’s meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday morning, there was no uniform dynamics on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange: some securities increased by 1.5%, while others, on the contrary, decreased in price.
GDP warrants, which had risen in price during the week to the level of the end of February this year, fell by 0.37% on Friday morning – to 81.35% of the nominal value.
As a reminder, on October 16, Donald Trump had a telephone conversation with Vladimir Putin. After that, he announced an agreement to hold a meeting with the Russian leader in Hungary, but did not name a specific date. According to Trump, the main goal of the talks will be to find ways to end the war between Russia and Ukraine. Before that, consultations between high-level advisers from both sides are scheduled for next week.
