Ukrainians are against the increase in electricity tariffs: the petition to Zelensky gained votes
Ukrainians are worried about the sudden increase in electricity tariffs, which falls on the period of the war. Petition, posted on the official website of the President of Ukraine, has gained more than 25,000 signatures, in which citizens call on Volodymyr Zelenskyi to intervene and stop the increase in tariffs.
“We, the citizens of Ukraine, appeal to you with an urgent request to prohibit the increase in electricity prices in the conditions of war and hostilities on the territory of our country. The level of wages in Ukraine, especially in regional centers, no longer corresponds to the cost of electricity. The government and you personally promised to introduce a moratorium on tariff increases until the end of the war, but, unfortunately, these promises were not fulfilled. The people of Ukraine are facing enormous financial difficulties, and it is especially difficult for people of retirement age. In such conditions, the increase in electricity tariffs becomes an unbearable burden for the majority of citizens“, – noted the author of the petition.
“One of the possible ways to solve this problem is to reduce the salaries of deputies and civil servants, as well as a ban on bonuses. After all, in the current year, the expenses for the maintenance of the NEK board have increased, and in April 2024 they exceeded UAH 8.5 million. Against the background of these data, the question arises about the competence of the entire governmenty”, – suggests Roman Parfyonov
He emphasizes the importance of keeping promises regarding a moratorium on tariff increases until the end of the conflict, and also demands transparency in the use of international financing for the needs of the country’s energy system reform.
