Since the beginning of the year, Ukrainians have spent almost UAH 15.8 billion on the purchase of cars, about half of this amount was spent on the purchase of cars of five brands. About this informs “Ukravtoprom”.
Ukrainian car owners actively choose cars from the manufacturer Toyota, spending the largest amount of money on them – UAH 2.7 billion. In second place in terms of the volume of expenses were passenger cars of the Volkswagen brand, for which more than UAH 1.4 billion was paid. BMW was in third place among Ukrainian car enthusiasts – UAH 1.3 billion. At the same time, Mercedes-Benz took fourth place, collecting more than UAH 1 billion and The top five leaders of this rating were completed by the French brand Renault with a figure of over UAH 973 million. However, almost half of the cars imported to Ukraine are older than 10 years.
At the same time, the demand for electric cars is steadily growing – in 2024, more than 8,000 of them will be imported. They make up 13% of the total number of imported cars. Among all electric cars, Tesla is in the greatest demand in Ukraine – 1,672 cars. Second place is occupied by Volkswagen – 1,503 electric cars, or 18.7% of all imported electric cars.
The largest number of imported cars was registered in Kyiv – 13.7%. Lviv Oblast (10.7%) and Odesa Oblast (7.4%) also made it to the top 3.
In February 2024, the Ukrainian car fleet was replenished with about 4,000 electric cars, which is almost 2 times more compared to the same period last year. Also in February, more than 3,300 used cars from the USA were registered, the average age of which exceeded six years. In January, the car fleet of Ukraine was replenished with more than 1,300 cars with diesel engines, which is 71% more than last year. March brought an increase in sales of new passenger cars – 6,600, which is 28% more than last year.
According to the results of the 1st quarter of 2024, the Ukrainian car market increased by 40%.
At the same time, according to Opendatabot, in 2024, Ukrainians imported 58,593 cars, compared to the corresponding period last year, their import increased by 34%.
