‘Ukroboronprom gets a new head: what we know about him
The Supervisory Board of the concern “Ukroboronprom” announced the appointment of a new general director. He became Oleg Gulyak, who previously held the position of commander of the Logistics Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and since September has been acting as the temporary head of the concern.
As informs the press service of “Ukroboronprom”, more than 20 candidates applied for the post of general director, of which three reached the final stage of selection. The supervisory board conducted interviews with them and made a final decision in favor of Hulyak.
The Minister of Strategic Industries Herman Smetanin noted that Oleh Gulyak understands the needs of the Ukrainian military and has significant managerial experience. Its main tasks will be to increase production volumes, complete the reform of the defense-industrial complex, and create an effective anti-corruption infrastructure.
Who is Oleg Gulyak?
Major General Oleg Gulyak began his military career after graduating from the Novosibirsk Higher Military Command School. He held a number of important positions, in particular, he commanded the 72nd separate mechanized battalion of the Ukrainian peacekeeping contingent in Iraq, the 95th separate airmobile brigade and was the head of the Odessa Military Academy. Gulyak also worked as the deputy commander of the Anti-Terrorist Operation Forces.
In February 2024, as part of rotations in the Armed Forces, Gulyak was replaced by Volodymyr Karpenko as commander of the Logistics Forces.
