Joint-Stock Company “Ukrzaliznytsia” has installed air conditioners in regional electric trains for the first time. They are already equipped with trains running on the routes Rivne – Lviv – Rivne and Kyiv – Khmelnytskyi – Kyiv.
These are modernized electric trains EP9M-502 and EP9E-630, which railway workers repaired on their own at the company’s facilities. The upgrade should provide passengers with a more comfortable temperature during trips.
“Regional electric trains running on the well-known route Rivne – Lviv – Rivne, as well as on the new route Kyiv – Khmelnytskyi – Kyiv”, – reported in “Ukrzaliznytsia”.
The company noted that these flights can also be an alternative to long-distance trains between Kyiv and Lviv. From the capital, you can get to Lviv with a transfer in Khmelnytskyi: first by regional train No. 857K Kyiv – Khmelnytskyi, and then by train No. 825 Khmelnytskyi – Ternopil – Lviv. The wait between flights is about two hours.
“This is actually a prototype of the European PSO model — a state order for socially important transport services — and the creation of a transparent and predictable system of financing passenger rail transportation”, the company noted.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Ukrzaliznytsia has modernized 52 electric trains. Currently, railway workers are completing the renovation of another air-conditioned electric train, which is to enter routes in the Odessa region. By the end of the year, the company plans to modernize several more such trains.
