Delegations from Ukraine, US and EU to meet in Paris to discuss Trump’s ‘peace plan’: Axios

Representatives of Ukraine, the United States, and EU countries are to meet in Paris on December 13 to discuss the controversial provisions of Donald Trump’s “peace plan”. This is reported by Axios, citing its own sources.

According to the publication, a meeting of senior officials from the United States, Ukraine, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom is expected in the French capital.   There is no confirmation yet whether US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who was present at the previous round of such consultations, will join the delegation.

It is expected that during the negotiations the parties will try to agree on the controversial provisions of Trump’s plan, in particular the issues of territories and possible security guarantees. The media note that this meeting may be a preparatory stage for a broader negotiation process to resolve the war between Russia and Ukraine. At the same time, there are no forecasts for the results at the moment – European leaders are cautious about some of Trump’s proposals.

Previously, American media reported on secret contacts between the Trump team and the Russian side to develop a new plan to end the war. According to this information, Kyiv is offered to give up control over part of the territories in Donbas, significantly reduce the army and limit weapons. The media reports state that the transfer of the remaining territories of Donbas should be carried out in exchange for the security guarantees promised by the United States for Ukraine and Europe, the mechanism of which is not clearly defined.
