Ukrzaliznytsia launches women’s carriages in three trains from May 1

Joint-stock company “Ukrzaliznytsia” expands the list of trains on which the service of booking seats in women’s carriages is available. From May 1, this transportation format will appear on three more popular routes. The decision to scale the project was made against the backdrop of consistently high demand and positive feedback from female passengers, who are increasingly choosing specialized carriages for travel.

Ticket sales are already open for flights No. 7 Kharkiv – Odesa, No. 12 Lviv – Odessa and No. 92 Lviv – Kyiv. The company notes that the occupancy rate of such carriages exceeds 92% on average, and on some routes this figure is significantly higher. The level of satisfaction of female customers with the new transportation format, according to the carrier’s internal research, is about 87%.

“Women’s carriages remain among the leaders in demand in the booking system. For individual flights, occupancy ranges from 89% to 171%, which indicates significant interest among female passengers in this travel format,” Ukrzaliznytsia emphasized.

Thus, starting in May, women’s carriages will operate on 18 trains across the country. In particular, the service is already available on routes from Zaporizhia to Uzhgorod, from Kyiv to Rakhiv, as well as on the Dnipro – Truskavets and Cherkasy – Ivano-Frankivsk connections. Women’s carriages are standard compartment facilities, so no additional fees or increased fares are provided for them.

For the convenience of users in the mobile application and the official ticket sales system, such carriages usually have the number 5 and are marked with special markings. This allows female passengers to easily identify the necessary seats when planning a trip.

The introduction of women’s carriages is part of the carrier’s strategy to improve safety and comfort of transportation. Further development of the initiative will depend on the dynamics of demand and technical capabilities of forming trains on new routes. Currently, the experience of Ukrzaliznytsia demonstrates that the combination of regular fares with an additional level of psychological comfort is in demand among citizens.
