US and NATO launch new mechanism for rapid arms supply to Ukraine

The United States of America and NATO are jointly launching a new support mechanism for Ukraine, which should contribute to the acceleration of the supply of weapons. About this reported Minister of Defense of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal.

According to him, the mechanism will be based on the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) initiative, which provides for the compilation of a list of equipment and ammunition in accordance with Ukraine’s requests. These requests are confirmed by the Supreme NATO Commander in Europe (SACEUR).

The goal of the initiative is the prompt supply of weapons and systems available in the USA in large quantities to Ukraine, to strengthen the country’s defense capabilities and create conditions for achieving a just and lasting peace.

“This initiative is implemented within the framework of the agreements between the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi, the President of the United States Donald Trump and the Secretary General of NATO Mark Rutte. Thanks to the new mechanism, the member states of the Alliance and partners will have the opportunity to finance the supply of American weapons and technologies through voluntary contributions.” – says the message.

Delivery within the new format will be coordinated by NATO. It is planned that new aid packages will be announced regularly.

“The Netherlands has committed to financing the first aid package worth 500 million euros, and arms deliveries are expected to take place soon. More important announcements are also expected in the near future.” Shmyhal added.
