US removes three Russian-flagged vessels from sanctions list
The US Treasury Department announced the removal of three vessels flying the Russian flag from the sanctions list. This is reported in an updated list published by the US Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
In particular, the US side has lifted restrictions that previously applied to the container ships Fesco Moneron and Fesco Magadan. Both of these vessels are registered under the flag of the Russian Federation and were associated with the company “PSB Leasing”.
In addition, the dry cargo ship SV Nikolay, which is associated with the company “Alfa-Leasing”, was removed from the sanctions list. It is also noted that the US lifted sanctions on the container ships Fesco Moneron, Fesco Magadan and the cargo ship Sv Nikolay. The latter, according to the War Sanctions resource of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, was involved in the export of stolen Ukrainian grain.
The updates to the OFAC register mean that the blocking of the assets of these vessels has been lifted, and operations with their participation are again permitted. At the same time, the department did not specify the reasons for which these ships were excluded from the sanctions list.
Earlier, the US Coast Guard allowed a Russian tanker with a cargo of crude oil to arrive in Cuba. US President Donald Trump, commenting on this situation, said that he did not see a problem in this.
On March 22, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant stated that after Washington lifted sanctions on Russian oil and oil products that were blocked at sea for a month, Russia’s actual income from the sale of these raw materials decreased.
