US intelligence calls China the biggest threat to the country’s security

US intelligence considers China to be the main military and cyber threat to the United States. About this informs Reuters.

The intelligence report notes that China is making “steady but uneven” progress in building capabilities that could be used to seize Taiwan. In addition, China has the potential to strike the US with conventional weapons, launch cyber attacks targeting critical infrastructure, and attack US facilities in space.

According to the report, Beijing aims to displace the US as the leader in artificial intelligence by 2030. In addition, the Chinese military likely planned to use large language patterns to create fake news, impersonate and support cyber attacks.

Director of US National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard called China “Washington’s most capable strategic competitor”.

“China’s military is deploying advanced capabilities, including hypersonic weapons, stealth aircraft, advanced submarines, powerful space and cyber warfare, and increasing its nuclear arsenal.”, she concluded.

The intelligence report also notes that Russia, along with Iran, North Korea, and China, is trying to antagonize the United States using targeted campaigns to gain an advantage. Russia’s war against Ukraine, according to analysts, provided Moscow with “numerous lessons on countering Western weapons and intelligence in the conditions of a large-scale armed conflict.”
