VAKS chose preventive measures against SBU General Vityuk
Higher anti-corruption court determined a preventive measure for the former head of the SBU cyber security department, General Ilya Vityuk, in the form of bail in the amount of over 9 million hryvnias. He is suspected of illegal enrichment and entering false data into the declaration.
VAX judge Markiyan Galabala partially granted the request of the prosecutor. The prosecution insisted on bail in the amount of 42 million hryvnias, but the court’s decision set the amount at 9 million 84 thousand hryvnias.
Vytyuk has five days to post bail. A number of obligations have also been imposed on him, including the need to hand over foreign passports for safekeeping and a ban on contact with certain persons.
The defense of the general, like Vityuk himself, rejects the accusations and claims that he has no intention of evading the investigation, putting pressure on witnesses or leaving the country. The lawyers emphasized that Vytyuk performs official tasks on the instructions of the command and can go on business trips to various regions, including the war zone. After the announcement of the decision, Vytyuk said that he did not have the necessary savings to make bail and would have to look for funds.
Let us remind you that on September 2, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau served him with suspicion of illegal enrichment and unreliable declaration.
The SBU criticized the suspicion, saying that it was the result of the detention of several NABU employees at the end of July. The department called the actions of NABU and SAP “revenge” for exposing the Bureau’s employees in the commission of crimes and emphasized that the SBU effectively counteracts Russian influence on state bodies.
