VAKS removed the electronic bracelet from Solskyi, the former minister of agricultural policy

On June 18, the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court decided to remove the electronic bracelet from the former Minister of Agrarian Policy Mykola Solsky. The judge recognized that the risks which substantiated the need to wear a bracelet has decreased, and Solsky himself demonstrates proper procedural behavior.
However, the court extended other precautionary measures: Solsky cannot leave Kyiv and the region, must appear at the request of the prosecutor or judge and not communicate with witnesses and other suspects in the case.
“Considering the fact that the risks decrease over time, taking into account the proper procedural behavior of the suspect, the investigating judge believes that there is currently no need to extend the period of validity of the obligation to “wear an electronic means of control”, – it is stated in the text of the resolution.
The court also heard statements from the ex-minister’s defense about the unfoundedness of the suspicion, because NABU and SAP have no evidence of possession of land plots. There is only a version of the anti-corruptionists that the said plots were used by state-owned enterprises of the National Academy of Sciences when they were seized by the ATO with the help of Solsky.
The ex-minister’s defense insists on the unfoundedness of the suspicion, since NABU and SAP have no evidence of possession of land plots. They claim that there is only a version of the anti-corruption authorities that these plots were used by state-owned enterprises of the National Academy of Sciences, when they were obtained by the ATO with the help of Solsky.
In addition, the court returned the seized mobile phones to another person involved in the case.
We will remind that in April NABU and SAP announced to Mykola Solsky that he was suspected of taking over land plots in the Sumy region. The case concerns the events of 2017-2018, when he worked as a lawyer and helped the participants of ATO exercise their right to receive land.
The defense and Solsky himself deny the accusations, and the ATO participants who received the disputed land claim that their actions were legal.
