Viktor Orban said that the peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine will be signed in Budapest

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine is planned to be signed in Budapest. This was stated in Orban’s interview with the M1 TV channel, reports the Hungarian publication Index.

The head of the Hungarian government stressed that the Budapest Peace Summit will definitely take place – this, according to him, can already be considered a fact. At the same time, the politician did not specify when exactly this will happen.

During a conversation at the Vatican, Orban recalled the “peace summit” in Sharm el-Sheikh:

“The parties involved, including the Americans, negotiated for a long time, and then on Saturday they said that the signing would take place on Monday. That’s how you have to imagine it. So here in 2-3 days peace can be established and an agreement signed”.

According to Viktor Orbán, achieving peace between Russia and Ukraine is possible only with the participation of external forces. The politician emphasized that “someone” must negotiate peace with the Russians – the USA or Europe.

“Europe does not want to negotiate with Russia, which is a catastrophic mistake. The Americans are negotiating and they will decide the future of Ukraine, the issue of Europe’s security in an agreement with the Russians. And we Europeans act like we like it, and we will applaud, he noted.

Orbán is convinced that European leaders should directly enter into negotiations with Russia to reach an agreement on the European security system and the future of Ukraine.

Recall that in October, US President Donald Trump announced a planned meeting with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin in Budapest after their telephone conversation.

It was in Budapest in 1994 that the Memorandum was signed, according to which Ukraine renounced nuclear weapons in exchange for security guarantees from Russia, the US and the UK.
