Vodafone and KAI launch Ukraine’s first university space with 5G

The State University “Kyiv Aviation Institute” (KAI) together with the telecom operator Vodafone opened the first open university space in Ukraine with a 5G network. The technological infrastructure was built on the basis of Nokia equipment. About this reported Vodafone press office.

It is noted that the technical characteristics of the network allow transferring data at a speed of up to 10 gigabits per second with a minimum delay of up to one millisecond. Owners of Vodafone SIM cards and devices with 5G support have access to the network.

Until now, in Ukraine, fifth generation networks were deployed mainly in the offices of telecom operators and at industrial facilities. KAI became the first university where students, teachers and guests can get acquainted with the possibilities of 5G communication in practice.

The launch of the 5G network took place within the framework of strategic cooperation between KAI and Vodafone. In the partnership, the parties are also launching a master’s program in Big Data and Data Science, which will last one and a half years. The program combines academic standards with practical industry requirements and includes training courses from Big Data Lab experts. KAI and Vodafone plan to create a modern research laboratory with the latest technological equipment for university students.

“We believe that an investment in education is an investment in the future. That is why we support initiatives that help young people learn and create new technologies in a real environment. The opening of the first university 5G space is an example of how innovation goes beyond corporate offices and becomes part of the educational process.
