Volgograd refinery of “Lukoil” stopped due to drone strike
The Volgograd oil refinery of “Lukoil” in Russia has halted operations after a nighttime attack by Ukrainian drones. Reuters reports this.
The strike damaged the CDU-5 primary processing unit, which has a capacity of 9,100 tons per day, or 66,700 barrels per day — about a fifth of the plant’s total production capacity. The attack also disabled a hydrocracking unit capable of processing 11,000 tons of raw material per day. The company “Lukoil”, which owns the enterprise, did not provide any comments on this matter.
According to 2024 data, the Volgograd Refinery processed 13.7 million tons of oil, which is 5.1% of the total volume of processing at Russian oil refineries.
Recall that on the night of November 6, the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, together with other units of the Defense Forces, struck this facility. Explosions and fires were recorded as a result of the attack.
On October 31, the head of the SBU Vasyl Malyuk reported that since the beginning of 2025, the Ukrainian Defense Forces have carried out almost 160 successful attacks on Russian enterprises related to oil production and processing. According to him, 20 such facilities were hit in September-October alone.
