France has announced its readiness to send troops to Ukraine within the framework of international security guarantees

Chief of Staff of the French Land Forces, General Pierre Schil, announced the country’s readiness to deploy its forces in Ukraine in 2026 within the framework of international security guarantees. This was reported by the BFMTV channel.

During the hearings at the Defense Committee of the French National Assembly, Schil noted:

“We will be ready to deploy our troops within the framework of security guarantees, if the situation in Ukraine requires it”.

He stressed that 2026 will be the year of coalitions, recalling the large-scale French Orion 26 exercises, designed to test all models of military interaction and coordination.

According to the general, the French ground forces are capable of simultaneously responding to three key threats, including the possible deployment of troops on the territory of Ukraine. He also recalled the “national emergency readiness”, which provides for the possibility of sending about 7,000 troops to the mission area within 12 hours to 5 days, as well as the “priority NATO combat readiness”, which is part of France’s defense system.

These statements came the day after the speech of the Chief of the General Staff of the French Armed Forces, General Fabien Mandon, who warned deputies that the French army must be ready for a possible direct clash with Russia within three to four years.

Previously, former Chief of the General Staff Thierry Burkard also warned about the growing Russian threat, noting that Moscow considers France one of its priority targets and is already waging a hybrid war against it – in space, in the air, at sea and in the information system space.

It is known that the issue of the possible deployment of Western military contingents in Ukraine after reaching agreements on a ceasefire is coordinated by the so-called “coalition of the determined”, led by Great Britain and France.
