Volodymyr Zelenskyy appointed Olga Stefanishyna as ambassador of Ukraine to the United States
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced the appointment of former Minister of Justice Olga Stefanyshyn as the new ambassador of Ukraine to the United States of America.
“Just spoke with Olga Stefanishyna – now the new ambassador of Ukraine to the United States of America. Formal procedures completed – today I signed the decree on the appointment of the ambassador”, – said Zelensky.
The president noted that he has identified key tasks for the new message, which are aimed at updating the work of the Ukrainian diplomatic mission in the USA and ensuring the implementation of all agreements with President Donald Trump, primarily in the field of defense.
“In many respects, the long-term security of Ukraine depends on relations with America”, – explained Zelensky.
He also reminded that two important Ukrainian initiatives are currently being discussed for the US: an agreement on the supply of weapons to Ukraine and an agreement on modern drones for the American side. Kyiv expects a rapid deepening of cooperation with Washington. Separately, the head of state expressed his gratitude to former ambassador Oksana Markarova, who represented Ukraine in the United States since the beginning of the full-scale war.
“We already talked about further interaction, and I offered Oksana Markarova to continue being in the team – to work for Ukraine”, – noted Volodymyr Zelenskyi.
Olga Stefanishyna was born on October 29, 1985 in Odesa. In 2008, she graduated from the Institute of International Relations of Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University, having obtained a master’s degree in international law and a qualification as an English translator.
In 2016, she received her second higher education at the Odesa National University of Economics, majoring in Finance and Credit. Since 2007, she worked at the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, where she held various positions, including the director of the international law department and the European integration department.
In 2017–2019, she headed the government office for European and Euro-Atlantic integration. In 2020, she was appointed Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration of Ukraine. From September 5, 2024 to July 17, 2025, she held the position of Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine – Minister of Justice of Ukraine.
