Volodymyr Zelenskyy assured Ukraine of its readiness to fight for another two or three years: Donald Tusk

Ukraine is ready to fight with Russia for another two or three years, but Volodymyr Zelensky hopes that the conflict will not drag on for decades — although he fears exactly such a development. This was stated by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk in his interview for the British publication The Sunday Times.

The Polish Prime Minister assured that he did not doubt Ukraine’s ability to survive as an independent state despite Russian aggression, but noted: the question is at what cost this will be achieved and how many more people will die.

“President Zelensky told me that he hopes the war will not last ten years, but Ukraine is ready to fight for another two or three years”, — Donald Tusk said.

He added that Ukraine is very concerned about the possible consequences for its population and economy if the conflict drags on for more than three years, which is why Zelensky called the time frame “two to three years”, but no more.

Tusk also stressed that Ukraine has the right to strike Russian targets in any part of Europe, and pointed to the significant economic damage that Russia’s war is causing. According to him, the Russian economy “in the long run” has virtually no chance of survival, and is currently experiencing serious problems, exacerbated by new US sanctions.

At the same time, Tusk warned that internal instability in Russia could make its leader Vladimir Putin even more aggressive, and also expressed doubts about the stability of US President Donald Trump’s punitive approach to the Kremlin in the long term.

In Tusk’s opinion, despite the difficult economic situation, the Russians have a significant advantage over Western countries – they are ready to fight:

“They have one big advantage over the West, and especially over Europe: they are ready to fight. In wartime, this is absolutely crucial. You have no chance of winning if you are not ready to fight or at least sacrifice something”.
