President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi spent meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief Staff, at which he instructed to increase the purchase of drones and expand the “Contract 18-24” program
“First of all, training in training centers has already become more effective, but there are still things that need to be implemented. This applies to combat training as well as psychological and motivational training. There should be more actual combat experience of this war when training soldiers.”, — noted Zelensky.
He instructed to significantly increase the direct funding of the brigades for the purchase of drones, stressing that the necessary funds for this are available.
“This is what most brigades say – it means much more opportunities to buy pickup trucks. That is, there should be simplification of procedures and direct funding for units, just like for the purchase of drones. There should be a real opportunity for our soldiers to buy exactly the machines they need, exactly as it will be the fastest.”, – emphasized the head of state.
Contracts according to the 18-24 model were discussed separately.
“The program must be expanded. Some options were discussed today, including increasing the age and circumstances under which this particular format of contract can be entered into. The Ministry of Defense, the General Staff and the Office team must present the details to the public.” Zelensky added.
The president also raised the topic of delaying the process of awarding state awards to military personnel.
“Unfortunately, there are many cases when our soldiers from various components of the Defense Forces wait for months for the presentation of state awards, and this is solely due to cumbersome bureaucratic procedures. I instructed to reduce the document flow as much as possible, the number of various signatures and approvals. We must digitize this area as well.” – noted Zelensky.
