Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in his Christmas address, stated the common desire of Ukrainians during the war
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that this Christmas, Ukrainians are united by a common desire – peace and an end to the war. In his video address on Christmas Eve, the head of state emphasized that this year, Christmas is celebrated together, as one big family.
Zelenskyy emphasized that not everyone can be at home, not everyone with their families, and the war has forced some to leave their homes or be under occupation. However, according to him, Russia is not capable of breaking the Ukrainian heart, faith in each other and a sense of unity.
“And we are happy when we hear Christmas music, but even more so – when we do not hear the music of evil, we do not hear drones and missiles flying overhead”, – the president emphasized.
The head of state recalled that on the eve of Christmas, Russia again attacked the territory of Ukraine, demonstrating its true face. Zelensky prayed for the soldiers at the front, prisoners, fallen heroes, and those forced to leave their homes by the war.
“We pray today for all those at the front, that they may return alive. For all those in captivity, that they may return home. For all our fallen heroes who defended Ukraine at the cost of their lives. For all those whom Russia drove into occupation and forced to leave. Who is having a hard time, but they have not lost Ukraine within themselves, and therefore, Ukraine will never lose them. We are shoulder to shoulder today”, – Zelenskyy said.
The President noted that Ukrainians, in addition to the common desire for the end of the war, turn to God with a request for peace, happiness and safety for their loved ones.
“So that the eyes of our children, the eyes of our parents, our loved ones, our relatives finally do not cry. So that good and truth prevail. So that peace will triumph. And we will be. And Ukraine will be. And certainly – the day when everyone will gather at home in the first peaceful year, a peaceful Christmas and say to each other: “Christ is born! Let us praise Him!” – said the President.
