Volodymyr Zelenskyy named the conditions for the presence of foreign troops on the territory of Ukraine within the framework of the peace agreement

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky spoke about the key conditions for the participation of foreign troops in ensuring the security of Ukraine within the framework of the future peace agreement. According to him, security guarantees should provide for the physical presence of military personnel from at least France and Great Britain, as well as, if possible, other states after approval by their parliaments. Zelensky made this statement at a briefing in Kyiv after a meeting with advisers to Western leaders.

He emphasized that there is currently no final text of the peace agreement with security guarantees. Therefore, details are important, in particular regarding the military presence of partners in Ukraine.

“Of course, (military) presence is important for us. And certainly, not everyone is ready for it… But presence is one of the key factors, and even the existence of the “coalition of the willing” itself depends on whether they are ready to intensify their presence,” Zelenskyy said.

The President explained that the final number of countries ready to send troops to Ukraine will become clear only after the ratification process begins in the parliament of each state.

“There is a parliamentary dimension, because even if the leader is ready to help Ukraine, even if the military is ready to be present in Ukraine, the support of the parliament is still needed, according to the Constitutions of many European countries. We cannot be responsible for the parliaments of other countries,” Zelensky emphasized. At the same time, the president said that some coalition member states may refrain from sending their troops, but there are minimum mandatory requirements. “The leaders of the coalition of the determined are Britain and France. Their military presence is mandatory,” Zelensky said.
