Ukraine, together with international partners, has come close to a possible end to the war with Russia, and the efforts of US President Donald Trump play a key role in this. This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during a conversation with journalists.
Zelensky stressed that the situation in Ukraine is unique in scale and has no analogues in the world:
“I do not want to belittle or exaggerate this or that country, but we cannot compare what is in the Middle East and what is happening here. This is a completely different scale of war. It’s a different story”.
The President drew attention to the fact that despite the common suffering and losses, the war in Ukraine is significantly different in terms of the level of means used and the scale of hostilities:
“There are, of course, the same victims, the same living people, and, unfortunately, great losses. But this cannot be compared. Losses, means and the scale of the war cannot simply be compared”.
He recalled that the Ukrainian army has been confronting a much stronger enemy for over three years:
“We are at war with the Russian army. Therefore, this war cannot be ended so quickly”.
At the same time, the head of state noted that recently the prerequisites for real progress towards peace have appeared:
“We are close to a possible end to the war. I can tell you for sure. This does not mean that it will definitely end, but President Trump has achieved a lot in the Middle East, and on this wave he wants to end Russia’s war against Ukraine.
Zelensky emphasized that a powerful political demand is being formed at the international level to end the war:
“This is the mood in the world: let’s throw all our strength now and end Russia’s war against Ukraine.
According to the president, Ukraine is actively using this favorable atmosphere to increase pressure on Russia by both military and diplomatic means:
“In this mood, we are taking some steps – “Tomahawks” etc., and these are new steps, and they are really putting pressure on Russia.
