Xi Jinping supported Putin’s position on the war against Ukraine.

During his visit to Moscow, the President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping, expressed his support for Russia, called Vladimir Putin an ally in the creation of a new world order, and confirmed a common position on the war against Ukraine. About this informs Reuters.

In a joint statement following the negotiations, the leaders of China and Russia noted that the resolution of the conflict in Ukraine is possible “only by eliminating its root causes.” This wording reproduces the main theses of Russian propaganda, which the Kremlin uses to justify its aggression against Ukraine, in particular, “the threat of NATO expansion”, “discrimination against Russian speakers”, as well as oppression of the Russian language, culture and mass media in Ukraine.

“Xi’s participation, as well as a joint statement that aligns China’s position with Russia’s vision of the conflict, gives Putin important support amid pressure from the United States to end the war.”, says the message.

Xi Jinping also emphasized that Russia and China should be “true steel friends, hardened by hundreds of trials.” The two leaders agreed to strengthen coordination in all spheres, including the military, and declared their intention to “resolutely oppose Washington’s course of dual containment” of Russia and China. They also confirmed their intention to personally monitor key areas of cooperation and achieve growth in trade and investment volumes by 2030.

We will remind that on the evening of May 7, Xi Jinping arrived in Moscow to participate in the May 9 parade. During the event on Red Square in Moscow, a Chinese military unit will take part, which, according to Putin, will be the largest of all foreign contingents.
