You should not rest here: the most dangerous tourist places in Europe
When traveling in European countries, most tourists choose well-advertised places of interest. However, after visiting the Eiffel Tower or the Brandenburg Gate, there is a high probability of leaving without a wallet. British insurance company Quotezone published a list of popular tourist places that are not entirely safe to visit.
In the first place of the rating was Italy, namely the Trevi Fountain. This is the largest fountain in Rome. Its height is almost 26 meters, and its width is about 20 meters. For every million Britons who visited Italy near this fountain, 478 cases of pickpocketing were recorded.
In second place is France, namely the square near the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Of the million Britons who visited this attraction, 251 were left without a wallet.
The third step is occupied by Spain. Pickpockets most like to “work” in the most famous square of Barcelona – La Rambla (also called Las Ramblas). For every million tourists from Britain who have visited this place, 111 have had their money or personal belongings stolen.
“It’s important to always be alert in crowded places, leave valuables such as expensive jewelry in a hotel safe and walk around with a secure shoulder bag. Try to never leave personal belongings unattended, as travel insurance companies require travelers to “reasonably caution” and may reject claims if the client left things unattended. It is also important to remember that you need to get a statement to the police about the loss or theft of the thing, as this will confirm the insurance case,” Quotezone said.
