Ukraine took a negative view of the refusal of China and Brazil to participate in the Peace Summit, Volodymyr Zelenskyi said during a speech at the Shangri-La Dialogue on Sunday, June 2.
“After all, we did not accept China’s signal positively that they will not support us in this matter – will not participate in the Peace Summit. As for the alternative proposals of China and Brazil, Ukraine, as a victim of this war, had every right to initiate the way before its end, namely the Peace Summit. And it was we who had to do it, because we know all the crises that Russia has brought to the territory of Ukraine. This is not a war we provoked, we did not start it, the war is not being fought on the territory Russia, everything is happening on the territory of Ukraine,” Volodymyr Zelenskyi said.
The president noted that he is ready to listen to all proposals, but the final decision will be up to Ukraine. The topics of the Peace Summit will focus on three main issues: nuclear security, food security and the return of Ukrainian children illegally taken to Russia.
“With all due respect to any country, neither China, nor Brazil, nor anyone else is fully aware of what Russia has brought to the territory of our state with this war. I wish all countries peace, I wish that no one there were casualties, mass casualties, but it was the Russians who raped our women and stole tens of thousands of our children. Therefore, no one has the right to tell us how this war should end. It should end in accordance with the laws, with the international law It’s a must. We invited both China and other countries. Besides, we didn’t prepare our agent. We said there are three crises (the first three), let’s talk about them. because they are important not only for Ukraine – it is food security, nuclear security and the return of children who were forcibly taken to the territory of the Russian Federation. Everyone is interested in solving these problems, finding solutions. We are ready to listen to the opinion of each country , but on our platform, which is organized by us together with the Swiss side,” Zelenskyi said.
