Zelenskyi’s peace formula is the way to negotiations and ending the war: Secretary of the National Security Council

Oleksandr Lytvynenko, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, said that Ukraine is aware of the inevitability of ending the war through negotiations. It was for this purpose, according to him, that the peace formula of President Volodymyr Zelenskyi was developed and is being actively promoted.

About this reported Oleksandr Lytvynenko in a video address to the participants of the Baltic Sea Region Forum: “NATO 2024 and Arctic Europe”.

“The security agreements implementing last year’s G7 statement are, without the slightest doubt, an important step. And we highly appreciate the efforts of the President of Finland, Alexander Stubb, and the entire Finnish people, who know better than anyone the critical importance of security for Russia’s neighbors. However, Ukraine needs exactly guarantees, and the Finnish example clearly demonstrates that there is only one real guarantee in Europe today – NATO membership“, Litvinenko said.

Lytvynenko expressed hope that the peace formula will receive support at the peace summit in Switzerland in June, calling it “a real diplomatic track that has every chance of contributing to the achievement of a just peace.” The NSDC spokesman also emphasized that Ukraine expects to receive an invitation to NATO already at the July summit in Washington. Although, according to him, the full-fledged entry into the Alliance will not happen immediately, but the invitation itself will be a powerful signal for Russia and will contribute to reducing tensions.

“It will contribute to de-escalation, and not become a confrontational step. The experience of the Bucharest summit in 2008 clearly proved that in relations with the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, clear determination stabilizes the situation, and its absence provokes Russia to take aggressive steps.” Oleksandr Lytvynenko concluded.
