Zelenskyy notes successful results of Ukraine-North Europe summit

President Volodymyr Zelenskyi reported on the successful results of the fourth Ukraine-Northern Europe summit held in Reykjavík.

As stated on the official page president on Facebook, Zelenskyi emphasized that “the best thing you can hear from partners during the war is the question of the next step to support Ukraine.” Denmark, Iceland, Norway, Finland and Sweden have expressed their readiness to strengthen support for Ukrainian defense.

The summit discussed how to provide Ukraine with additional air defense systems, including Patriots. The President also noted that the countries agreed to expand the production of defense products both in Ukraine and in partner states, with the aim of strengthening the common defense base against Russian aggression.

All Nordic partners supported Ukraine’s Victory Plan – clear points that strengthen our ability to bring a just peace closer. And I am grateful for the willingness to work with other partners, to convince them that determination can change history for the better“, Zelensky emphasized.

The issue of geopolitical certainty was also raised at the summit. The President pointed out that inviting Ukraine to NATO will not only strengthen Ukraine, but also increase the level of security of all Alliance countries in the long term, as it will limit Russia’s opportunities for imperial ambitions.

According to Zelensky, a common understanding was reached on the need to strengthen sanctions against Russia, including limiting the ability to use the “shadow tanker fleet” to finance the war. The President called for the support of the Northern European countries in this decision by their allies from the EU and the G7.
