Ukrainian defenders were the first in the world to destroy a “Shahed” with an interceptor drone from an unmanned surface platform
The troops of the Unmanned Surface Systems Division of the 412th Nemesis Brigade of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have shot down a Shahed attack drone for the first time in the world using an interceptor drone launched from an unmanned surface platform. This was reported by the brigade’s press service.
The unit called the interception of the Shahed a new level of integration of naval and air unmanned capabilities. The military also noted that the launch of interceptor drones from surface carriers allows for the expansion of countermeasures against Russian air attacks and forms an additional echelon of defense of the sky over Ukrainian cities.
Fighters of the 412th Brigade released footage showing an interceptor drone launched from a surface platform destroying a Russian strike drone.
Defense Minister Mikhail Fedorov previously noted that the level of drone interception had increased to 90%.
