Zelenskyy signed laws on tax and customs benefits for manufacturers of fiber-optic drones
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi signed two laws providing tax and customs benefits for manufacturers of drones controlled via fiber optic cable. About this reported in the cards of draft laws on the website of the Verkhovna Rada.
The first law (draft law №13305) amends the Customs Code of Ukraine and provides for exemption from taxation of goods used for security and defense purposes. Such goods include optical fibers, fiber optic harnesses, other fiber optic cables, as well as various optical, navigational and topographical instruments and defense instruments.
The second law (draft law №13306) provides for the exemption of imported optical fiber from payment of value added tax. As the authors of the project note, in the conditions of war, developers and manufacturers are increasingly actively creating unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) that use an optical cable to control the flight and transmit a video signal. Such drones are resistant to the means of radio-electronic reconnaissance and means of radio-electronic warfare of the enemy.
One of the key elements for the production of drones and other defense products is optical fibers, fiber optic harnesses and other fiber optic cables, which are mostly imported into Ukraine. Fiber optic FPV drones are controlled via a fiber optic cable that also carries the video signal. Since their control does not use radio frequencies, they are not affected by electronic warfare.
