17 Ukrainian universities ranked among the world’s best universities: list

Ukrainian universities confidently entered the ranking of the best in the world according to the prestigious British magazine Times Higher Education. About this reported Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
In 2025, 2,095 universities from 115 countries were evaluated, and this time the number of Ukrainian universities in the ranking reached a record high of 17. A total of 55 Ukrainian educational institutions applied for participation, which is a third more than the previous year.
The highest position among Ukrainian institutions was taken by Sumy State University, which fell into the range of 801–1000 of the best universities in the world. The other 16 Ukrainian higher education institutions are included in the 1501+ group.
For the first time, such universities as O. O. Bogomolets National Medical University, I. I. Mechnikov Odesa National University and Vasyl Stefanyk National University of Prykarpattia were included in the rating.

- Lviv Polytechnic National University
- National Aviation University
- National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute”
- Ihor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute
- National University of Bioresources and Nature Management of Ukraine
- Odesa National University named after I. I. Mechnikov
- Dnipro National University named after Oles Honchar
- Kyiv National University named after Taras Shevchenko
- Uzhgorod National University
- Prykarpattia National University named after Vasyl Stefanyk
- Kharkiv National University named after V. N. Karazin
- Chernivtsi National University named after Yury Fedkovich
The ranking is based on evaluating universities according to 18 performance indicators, divided into five main indicators: educational activity, research environment, research quality, cooperation with industry and international openness. The analysis used 157 million citations and 18 million scientific publications from the Scopus database, as well as surveys of more than 93 thousand scientists from around the world.
